Parthnon Replica Nashville

Most people do not know that there is a full-scale replica of the Greek Parthenon in Nashville, Tennessee. The replica was built in 1897 for the Tennessee Centennial Exposition and is located in what is now Nashville's Centennial Park. It also serves as Nashville's art museum.

Equally interesting, is a full scale replica of the 42 ft. (12.8 m) sculpture of the Greek goddess Athena Parthenos located inside the structure just as in the ancient Parthenon in Athens, Greece.

In Greek mythology, Athena was the goddess of intelligent activity, art and literature and the embodiment of wisdom, purity and reason. She was also the protectress of Athens, the cultural center of the Greek Empire.

The museum also contains a collection of paintings by 19th and 20th century American artists.

Here, our students, Melina Sierra and Reagan Wood, are balancing in their hometown, Nashville, while standing in front of the Parthenon.

Parthenon Replica - Nashville

Melina and Soumaly Inthavong, another one of our Touch for Health students from Nashville, are seen testing the Anterior Serratus.

This image is special as they seem to be giving a salute to the ancient Athenians for their contributions in art, literature, philosophy, language and government that still influence many modern cultures today.

In the spirit of this website to show Touch for Health at work around the world, there is an interesting story of how these students came to our class...

Soumaly, born in Laos, heard about us from a friend who was born in Japan but now lives in Paris and was trained in TFH in California! This story is a perfect example of how Touch for Health spreads around the world.

And finally, Melina made it to the real "Parthenon" in Athens, Greece.
